Communications Committee
Minutes of meeting held September 25, 2007
2:00 p.m. Party Room

Pursuant to notice previously given, a meeting of the Communications Committee was held on September 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Party Room.

Committee members present: Sheila Campbell, Chairperson; Robert Glynn, Vice Chairperson; Sheila Rickman; Helene Zubkoff; Joan Stricker and Ray Williams.

Also present: Beverly Chaconas, Property Manager.

1. Call to Order – Mrs. Campbell called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.

2. Sign In – All visitors were asked to sign in.

3. Approval of Agenda – The agenda was approved as amended: Add New Business b. Committee member make-up.

4. Approval of minutes of meeting held August 28, 2007 – The minutes of the meeting held August 28, 2007 were approved as amended: correct spelling New Business a. Chaconas.

5. Old Business

a. Review of October 2007 Newsletter – The October 2007 newsletter was reviewed and the committee agreed to all revisions.

6. New Business –

a. Assignments for November 2007 Newsletter –

Sheila Rickman – Meals on Wheels
Helene Zubkoff – Interview Rhoda Lawrence
Beverly Chaconas – Management Notes/Election Results

At this time, Mrs. Campbell announced that Joan Stricker has informed her that she will be resigning from the Communications Committee. Mrs. Campbell thanked Joan for her valuable contributions with skills and valued ideas and information.  Mrs. Stricker stated that she is resigning because she feels compelled to give her time and energy volunteering for those in need.  She noted that she may, from time to time, submit an article of interest and that she has thoroughly enjoyed working with all the committee members and contributing to the monthly newsletter.

b. Committee member make-up – Mrs. Campbell announced that according to the Communications Committee Terms of Reference, a committee member must be a unit owner.  She informed the committee that since one prospective member is renting her unit, she may not be a member of the committee.

Mrs. Chaconas stated that the Terms of Reference for all committees are reviewed every three years.  The Communications Committee will review the Terms of Reference in January 2008 and make a decision whether to revise the committee membership restriction and allow non-owners to become a member.

Mrs. Campbell also announced that the following residents were interested in joining the Communications Committee: Judy Gallagher; Sheila Gitelson; Audrey Stone.

c. Move-In Move-Out – Mr. Glynn suggested that the Management Office inform new residents of important building regulations by providing them a “Welcome” packet when they move in. Mrs. Chaconas stated that Patricia does give new residents a “Welcome” packet, but she is not sure what information is included.  She noted that she will review the packet with Patricia.

7. Open Forum – There were no comments during open forum.

8. Adjournment – There being no further business to come before the Committee, the meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m.
